Sixty-three aspiring firefighters from two classes will graduate from the Oxnard College Regional Fire Academy on Saturday, May 13, at the Regional Training Center at Camarillo Airport.
Two women cadets will be among the cadets to be honored during the ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Fire Technology Instructors Patrick Easley and Gary W. Morgan have invited Ventura County Fire Department representatives and OC Interium President Mr. Michael Gregoryk to speak at the ceremony. Others attending include OC Vice President of Student Learning Dr. Anthony Tricolil and fire technology instructor Russ Emory, who will be honored during the ceremony.
The academy was created in 1997 to recruit and train local men and women in the academic and manipulative skills necessary to graduate as firefighters-in training. The Academy was proposed by local fire department officials to help potential firefighters be more successful in applying for professional positions.
“We’ve been fortunate to establish an outstanding firefighter academy built on strong partnerships with the County of Ventura and Ventura City fire departments,” said program facilitator Patrick Easley.
