| SEPTEMBER 11 OBSERVANCE TO MARK 8TH ANNIVERSARY OF TERRORIST ATTACKS – There will be a brief ceremony at the Oxnard College Amphitheater beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2009, to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, in 2001. “There will be a moment of silent tribute to observe the times the towers were attached and approximately 3,000 Americans lost their lives,” said Oxnard College President Richard Durán. “The ceremony will also honor the first responders, police officers and men and women in uniform who are defending our country and serving in the armed forces around the world.” ASG president Anna VanderStowe and ASG officers plan to tie yellow ribbons on trees around campus to commemorate the day. Instructors will also be asked to observe a moment of silence in their classrooms in tribute to the American lives lost eight years ago. |
