| OXNARD COLLEGE STUDENT RECEIVES ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPOxnard College engineering student Ana Hernandez was one of six students awarded scholarships at the 2002 National Engineers Week Scholarship banquet held Feb. 21, 2002, at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley.
In addition to Ms. Hernandez, other students who received scholarships were Branden Willis of Moorpark College, Emy Zalavarria of Santa Barbara City College, and Shannon Marie Petzold, Amy Van Munn and Christopher Utley, all UC Santa Barbara students. Oxnard College engineering technology instructor Ed Lynch chaired the scholarship committee.
Sharon Dixon of the Regional Occupational Program operated by the Ventura County Superintendent of Schools received the 2002 Teacher Recognition Award for engineering studies.
The event, which celebrates the “Without Engineers The World Stops” theme for the week, was sponsored by the Ventura County-Santa Barbara 2002 National Engineers Week Scholars Committee, which included the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Military Engineers, the American Society of Naval Engineers, the American Society for Quality, the California Society of Professional Engineers, the Consulting Engineers Land Surveyors of California, the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, and the Society of American Military Engineers. Corporate sponsors also included Tom Porter and Yemma Consulting Engineers. |
