OC'S PROYECTO ACCESS LARGEST IN U.S.
Kudos and congratulations are in order for "Proyecto Access" program director Mark Bates, Dr. Steve Hall, Dean of Math and Science and the staff of teachers, mentors and OC classified staff who achieved another year of success and set a standard for exemplary student retention in 2004.
Dr. Rudy Reyna, National Director of "Proyecto Access," recently confirmed to Mr. Bates that the for the third straight year Oxnard College had the largest "Proyecto Access" program in the country. Out of the 218 students who attended the math-science-engineering youth enrichment program for at least once day this summer, 212 complted the six-week program -- a 97% retention rates. While all of the confirmed attendance figures from the other "Proyecto" sites across the country were not confirmed, Dr. Reyna stated that no other site had over 200 participants and estimated that the next largest site was around 180 students. |
