Summer Academy
The Career Pathways Summer Academy is an opportunity for seventh and eighth grade students to explore career pathways through an innovative summer experience. The academy begins on June 24 and ends on June 27, 2013 (Monday – Thursday) from 7:50 am to 12:05 pm.
For this year's Summer Academy students will take a field trip to the Oxnard College Fire Technology facility at the Camarillo Airport, where the students will have a hands-on experience learning what firefighters, emergency medical technicians (EMT), and paramedics experience on a daily basis. In addition, students will have an interactive opportunity as they bake and delight in their own culinary creations with our Culinary Arts faculty. Lastly, students will tour one of the largest machine tool manufacturing plants, Haas Automation Inc. Integrated into the week are college preparation skills, basic math skills, language skills and fine arts skills.
Due to limited space students will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. To apply for this program contact our office at 805-986-5800 ext. 1964 or by emailing angelina_dominguez@vcccd.edu.
